Welcome future Bulldogs!
This page contains information on the 6th grade team at R.J. Murray Middle School. The transition from elementary to middle school can be a stressful time, and we aim to alleviate as much stress and uncertainty as possible. Most general inquiries can be answered by reading our 6th Grade Syllabus and FAQs. If you have any remaining questions or concerns, please reach out to our team lead, Thomas Kirsimagi ([email protected]).

Frequently Asked Questions:
Schedules: Students have 7 periods a day. Each period is 45 minutes, and on early release days they are 37 minutes. Students have between 2-3 elective choices. Scheduling questions and concerns are typically facilitated through our school registrar. If you cannot access HAC to see your schedule, it is due to documentation missing from the front office. Please contact [email protected] with further questions. Schedules are subject to change through the summer, and possibly through the first week of school.
Lockers: Students are not assigned lockers in 6th grade. Textbooks are accessible in classrooms and electronically at home. Lockers will be assigned for PE and Dance.
Lunch: Students receive 30 minutes per day to eat lunch. Beginning Quarter 2, A/B Honor Roll students are welcome to eat in our luxurious courtyard!
Awards: Our team recognizes students on a monthly basis for behavioral and academic achievements. Each month, every 6th grade teacher chooses two students to participate in a “fun lunch” in our school game-room.
Student Numbers: Student numbers and passwords to access HAC and Schoology remain the same as in elementary school (if you were within St. Johns County School District).
Homework: All courses require studying prior to tests (this sometimes includes extra-credit study guides). Typically, students have about 20 minutes a math per night. For ELA, there will be various reading challenges throughout the year, equating to independently reading for about 20-30 minutes per night. Students also go to the library bi-weekly by class.
