Mr. Travis Brown
I would like to welcome all our Bulldog community to R.J. Murray Middle School. Our school motto is “One Team, No Limits” and that is best exemplified by the ideal that we are all working together to ensure our students reach their maximum potential. RJMMS has a rich and historic past and our students have a very bright future. By working together, we can ensure our students reach and exceed all of their goals.
Throughout my instructional career I have served in many roles. I began my career teaching a variety of subjects in the social sciences before transitioning to the role of Program Specialist for Secondary Social Studies and Advanced Programs for SJCSD. In 2015, I moved to the position of Assistant Principal at St. Augustine High School and oversaw Curriculum and Guidance.
In 2019 I was fortunate enough to be offered the opportunity to become Principal of R.J. Murray Middle School. As a lifelong learner and advocate for students, I feel very fortunate having the opportunity to join the RJMMS Bulldog Family!
Mr. Chris Cofield
I am grateful for the opportunity to be an educational leader at R. J. Murray Middle School. I strongly believe that building trust and relationships with students, families, and staff is essential for fostering a learning environment where ALL students can find their individual success.
I began my career as an educator in St. Johns County 13 years ago at Pedro Menendez High School. 8 years as a teacher in Architectural Drafting and AVID, 2 years as a Dean of Students, and 3 years as the Program Specialist in charge of the career and technical education programs.
My education includes a Bachelors Degree in Building Construction Management from the University of North Florida and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Florida.
I am excited to grow as an educational leader and learn from the amazing staff at R.J. Murray Middle School. I look forward to fully embracing the “One Team, No Limits” motto as a team player and be someone who helps students and staff reach their fullest potential.

I have a passion for children and strive to make a positive impact in the lives of the students I encounter daily. My career as an educator began 20 years ago in the Broward County Public Schools as a 6th grade teacher. I taught middle school for eight years, which includes serving students at Fruit Cove and Pacetti Bay Middle.
Prior to coming to Murray, I served as an Assistant Principal here in St. Johns County for six years at John A. Crookshank, Cunningham Creek, and The Webster School. My administrative experience also extends to the secondary level where I served for three years in Jacksonville, Florida for Duval County Public Schools at Highlands Middle School, and two years in Northern Virginia for Prince William County Schools at Rippon Middle School.
My educational experience includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Barry University in Miami, Florida; Master’s Degree in Math Education, Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate Degree in Education with a major in Organizational Leadership and a minor in Human Resource Development from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
I am thrilled to be part of a community committed to and invested in the success of our student body. Thank you for the opportunity to serve the students, parents, staff, and community of R. J. Murray Middle School.
