Science Fair

RJ Murray Middle School Science Fair 2020-2021 winner is Josh Davis, 7th grade. His research project, MEASURING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF FLOOD MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES, will represent our school at the St. Johns County Science and Engineering Fair, which will be judged virtually, in February 2021.

ABOUT ST. JOHNS COUNTY SCIENCE FAIR:

The St Johns County Science Fair began in 1978 as the River Region East Science Fair. This competition is a qualifying contest for projects to advance to the Florida State Science and Engineering Fair.

Winners at the school science fairs may be selected by their schools to advance to the regional level.

Project categories at our fair include:

  • Medicine and Health Sciences
  • Physics and Astronomy
  • Plant Sciences, Chemistry
  • Behavioral Sciences
  • Environmental Sciences

Category placement (1st, 2nd, 3rd place and Honorable Mention) are presented for each category, when appropriate. Placement for a top award does not guarantee that a student qualifies to compete at the state level; the regional fair’s scientific review committee retains the option of determining if a project meets the requirements for competition at the state level. Many special awards are available—each of these has its own unique criteria and may or may not be linked to placement in a particular category.
