Computer Science Certifications

ICT 1

In ICT 1, students will begin by learning the aspects of Cybersecurity (Protecting your Identity, Safety Risks in Online Activities, Legal and Ethical Issues of Internet Content, and Protecting Your Computer from Security Threats). Students will the move into Word Processing ( This includes Formatting, Editing, Revising, and Collaborating on Documents). At the end of the Unit, Students will produce a 1 page typed Career Report. Finally, Students work with Multimedia ( This includes Using Presentation Software and Graphics Software. At the end of the Unit, Students will produce a 12 slide PowerPoint with a Bibliography page.

ICT 2

In ICT 2, students will begin by learning aspects of Online Communications (Using Internet and WWW, Searching the Web, Internet Life and Privacy, Creating Content for the Web, and Communicating using e-mail). Students will then move into Spreadsheet (This includes learning Spreadsheet basics as well as making Formulas and Functions). At the end of the Unit, Students will create a detailed Spreadsheet based on a Rubric. Next, Students learn about Databases. Finally we finish up with basic Video Editing Software and Equipment.

Computer Science Discoveries

In CSD, students will begin by learning Computing (Introduction, Hardware, Software, and Networking). We then move into the Problem Solving Process and look at real world problems. The next Unit is Web Design (Principles, Planning, Creating and Publishing). At the end of the Unit, students create their own personal Web Page. Then students move into Gaming (Introduction, Programming for Games, Programming Concepts, and Creating Interactive Games). At the end of the Unit, students will create their own personal Game in code.org. Finally, we finish off with Programming and Logic.
